That's right, Kingdoms! Our first event is just around the corner!

The Dragons Have Come
...Sort of.

Oh, there are dragons all right. There are dragons no matter where you look, which way you turn, or where you hide. Thousands of them circle the heavens like ravenous vultures, nearly blocking out anything and everything in the skies, the sun included. Hundreds tear through the streets with no regard for anything or anyone in their path. They come in every shape and size, from small enough to only chomp a finger clean off to a scale so massive that the very foundations of the buildings/catacombs tremble and creak terribly with every step the beasts take. There's no lack of variety: they come in every color, every build, every combination imaginable; some spew ice, others lightning, the worst spit acid, and the more traditional breathe fire.

There's only one thing they share: blood lust.

Despite dragons typically being renown across the cosmos as intelligent and wise creatures, these ones won't bother to talk, to negotiate, or to bond. All they want to do is maim, kill, and destroy, and no one is excluded from their dead pool, not even the Summoned. There's no way to stop them, no hope of escaping. So what's there to do but prepare for certain death?

Well, you're not going to die, not at the hands of the so-called dragons. Because here's the kicker: they're not real. They may feel real enough, but in actuality, they don't exist. Four newcomers are to blame for this trauma-inducing exercise in Skyrim's Worst Placebo Effect, though that's for your characters to discover on their own.

However, it hardly matters that the dragons are a trick of the mind; everything feels as if it's happening in reality. If a dragon slashes at you, you'll feel the excruciating pain, the weight and gravity of his claws, the force of getting thrown back, the smell of sulfur and burning flesh, hear the heart-stopping roar, even taste the ash in the air... and you'll definitely see the dragon and the destruction around you. However, if you can stay calm through the shock (which would cause most NPCs to black out), you might realize that there aren't any actual wounds despite the sensation of being ripped open and the appearance of blood and torn clothing.

For one week, your characters will be stuck in a world that will be ripped apart around them by the dragons. Buildings "attacked" by the dragons will look as if they've been toppled and destroyed, "fires" will appear to rage both in the cities and in the flammable wilderness. "Smoke" will clog the air and lungs of those who must unfortunately breathe it.

This shared, mass hallucination is one everyone (with the exclusion of the four responsible) will be subjected to, player characters and NPCs alike. Panic will shake each kingdom to its core, and each army will initially focus inward to fight the unstoppable, destructive menace. Despite everyone's best efforts, even the smallest of the imagined dragons are impossible to kill, regardless of how much damage you may seem to cause them (hint, hint). After all, how can you kill what isn't actually there?

The event will be set from August 15th to August 22nd, though a forward posted log will go up this weekend to give players ample time to get to and play out things. Players are more than welcome to forward post their own logs and main comm posts after the start of the event log, and as always, everyone is more than welcome (and encouraged) to backtag (both on this plotting post and in the event itself)!

Happy plotting!

Hello, Kingdoms! Rose Marie here.

I am going on hiatus (again ;;;) and modatus, this time for a family trip to Hawaii! Needless to say, tagging and modding isn't going to happen. I will be leaving in the late afternoon today and will return in the wee hours of the morn on the 27th.

Rapunzel will be keeping busy with crafting. Feel free to handwave any visits with her (just let me know so I know they happened).

Lydia will be meandering, though mostly keeping to herself. If anyone in the Woof kingdom wants something specific handwaved with her, let me know! I'm more than happy to accommodate.

Taldra will be training those willing to train for a few hours on a daily basis and caring for the mancubs Jojen and Bran in her free time. She hasn't had this domestic a routine for a long time, so while part of her is happy, the other part is on-edge and tense (those in training might notice it).

I think that covers it. Have a great week, Kingdoms, and don't forget to post/tag around in the CR Meme (I'll tag y'all once I get back).
16th-Jul-2014 05:02 pm - CR + Player Plot Meme
kingdom_mods: (Default)
Hello, Kingdoms! It's time to get the imaginations rolling and those gears turning, especially when we have some exciting events coming up around the bend! (We're sure you'll want the chance to build some character relations to make the most out of everything we have in store for you.)

This meme is designed to help all players solidify their ongoing CR as well as give them a means of branching out to obtain more! Be sure to keep an eye out for any future plottng memes! It should become a consistent occurrence from here-on-out; after all, we want to give players the best opportunities to build and discover IC and OOC interest.

Instructions:
♛ To make things as comprehensive and helpful as possible, please copy and paste the context of the text box and answer all fields in your comments.
♛ For the love of Darcy, please do not answer with a bare bones "I'm up for anything" or such comments of that nature. Give your fellow players reasons to interact and build CR with your characters! Be as thorough as possible.
♛ Tag out! This is super duper important. Do not wait for people to come to you. A lot of us have a lot of other distractions going on, won't notice new comments, or are reasonably shy; the last thing we want is for any player to be faced with a lack of CR Plotting, so take it upon yourself to make CR a reality!
♛ Feel free to talk about hand-waved CR as well!
♛ ????
♛ Profit! The best profit ever.

Good luck, and happy plotting!

Alas, it is break time from the funtimes of RP world and time to face the immediate challenges of RL.

From tomorrow (6/15) to 6/23, I will be on hiatus. My best friend/sister's bachelorette party and wedding (in which I am the maid of honor and thus responsible for making sure pretty much anything and everything gets done) is this week, and I will probably be both scarce and exhausted until it's all over. I have a lot of work ahead of me and daunting/terrifying amounts of hours to put into everything. Gotta make sure things go smoothly, look great, and that my bride doesn't panic too badly (which is probably inevitable anyways). To make matters even more demanding, I have family from across the US visiting, so between them and prepping and the party and more prepping and the wedding, I have my hands completely and utterly full.

This affects Taldra, Rapunzel, and Lydia. Until I return, my characters will be doing the following:

Taldra will have received orders to return to the battlefield and manage things in person for the week. She'll return, but she won't tell the Summoned of any of the current developments, as she's sworn to confidentiality about the goings-on in the field.

Rapunzel will be trying to get situated in her new home in the Vampire Kingdom. She's doing a lot of running around, gathering supplies for her artistic and crafty endeavors; not every place will serve her and those that will might not do so on her first time. So she'll be doing her best to be persistent and returning to the shoppes again and again in attempt to get everything she needs. She'll be mostly preoccupied with this running back and forth during the week.

Lydia will be trying to get used to the werewolf kingdom; expect her to be neither here nor there, as she'll probably be keeping to herself to mourn and running off deep into the woods to attempt to banshee scream in peace. Werewolf Summoned, expect your characters to hear it off in the distance. Lydia will not be openly explaining the unsettling, bone-chilling shrieks, so feel free to let your characters remain confused or put two and two together that the screams only happen when she's not in-town.

While I'm away, feel free to tag my characters in either the intro or Lydia's first post! I promise to get to them as soon as I can tag again. <3

I think that just about covers everything! Have a great week, and I'll catch all y'all on the flip side!

Hello, Kingdoms~! I'm Maya, and I come to you with a floating demon skull named Johnson.

Johnson is a character from Shadows of the Damned, a ridiculous game that is the brainchild of Suda51 and Shinji Mikami of Resident Evil fame, starring a Mexican demon hunter, Garcia Hotspur, traveling into the depths of Hell to save his girlfriend. Johnson is Garcia's eex-demon companion... and also his motorcycle, pistol, shotgun, machine gun, and sniper rifle (dear God, don't ask about the sniper rifle mode). Yeah, he's got some major shape-shifting powers going on.

Johnson is snarky, healthily suspicious, and has a pretty good sense of humor and loyalty. He also has an aversion to swearing unless it's really, really funny. When he does swear, it's usually censored through a monotonous beeping sound and it's usually in regards to his colorful history among the Red Light district-type institutions. And for good reason, because he got down to some downright disgusting stuff, if Garcia's reactions are any indication.

Unfortunately, I'm having some trouble placing him into a kingdom at the moment, so he probably won't be ICly introduced for a few days. But I'm excited to throw him around at you guys!
13th-Jun-2014 07:05 pm - +1 Genius, Banshee, Playgirl, Philanthropist
chemistress: (You and every guy I've ever dated)

Hello, Kingdoms! Co-mod Rose Marie here, finally caught up on season 3b of Teen Wolf and bringing in Lydia Martin! She can be rather snarky and off-putting at times (don't let that deter you), but she's crazy intelligent and wonderfully loyal to those that have earned her trust. Not that her loyalties have kept her from sleeping with the enemy. Or sleeping around in general. Or kept her from finding dead bodies like the world's most morbid spidey sense.

That's right. For as human and bratty and vulnerable as she is, Lydia isn't entirely normal. She's the Harold of Death --a banshee-- with a keen sixth sense, knowing when someone is going to die and letting out a chilling, unnatural scream upon their deaths. The scream can reach for miles and miles, even further if there are people with sensitive enough hearing to pick up on it.

Along with her sensitivity to the undead, she also has another, often-overbearing ability. Her hearing is attuned to the universe on a level no one else is; this means she's often bombarded by voices (for a lack of a better word), sometimes a few, sometimes hundreds all at once. This allows her to hear the pasts of objects (for example, when her friend had this going on, she could hear what had happened and had been said around the strings simply by plucking one). When the voices get to be too much, the banshee scream serves a second purpose: drowning out the unnecessary noise which keeps her from being able to focus.

Essentially, she's on a precarious balance between usefulness and the nonstop noise driving her crazy.

While not every scream means someone has died, you can bet your sweet bibby that every time a Summoned dies, that unnerving scream is going to reach across the entire land. She sort of doubles as a useful plot device, which is grand for modding.

I'm intro-ing her on this IC day, so she's coming in a week after the intro event, and her post is already up in the main comm! I hope y'all have fun with her!
10th-Jun-2014 04:35 pm - Mod Request
kingdom_mods: (Default)
Hello, Kingdoms! We have a small request in regards to private plurks/PMs about general questions on the game, NPCs, and character concerns (in which the character is your own and not another player's). If possible, please send PMs to this account (where both Gato and Rose can access the questions/concerns) and please include both [plurk.com profile] littlestpenguin and [plurk.com profile] singasongasixpence in PPs.

We've found out through trial and error that when we can both see what the questions/concerns are and have the equal chance to participate in the conversation, it becomes much easier to give players concise answers and offer meaningful/useful information. We want to do the best we can to help without accidentally giving anyone vague, confusing, misconstrued, or contradictory information (which, sadly, is a very real possibility when one of us is kept in the dark). If we're both in on the PM/Plurk, it's easier to get on the same page, and thus we can do a much better job addressing your inquiries!

In other words... help us help you by helping us help you!

If you have any issues that require contacting a single mod (such as an issue with another player), please never hesitate to do so. We're always here to help, and if an one on one conversation makes talking about an issue easier on you, then we definitely support that decision! However, if you ever need the aid of the mod team, we kindly beg you on hands and knees to heed this request.

Thanks a ton, guys and gals and any variations thereof!
27th-May-2014 05:40 pm - OOC Introduction and Plotting Meme!
kingdom_mods: (Default)
Hello all, and welcome to Kingdoms! If you're interested in playing here, you've made it to the right place. Note that while this is up, we will still be working on getting the last few info pages, NPC accounts, and odds and ends finished; the game itself will be open in the next week or two. We will make an official plurk announcement when we have a surefire date. However, we want you all to have plenty of time to consider who you'd like to play as well as time to meet with those whom you'll be playing off of. If you're interested in seeing all the game information that's available right now, you're more than welcome to check out our directory!

This particular meme has two main functions. The first is pretty self explanatory: it's a chance to introduce yourselves and the character(s) you've decided on/are considering playing! The second half is to inform you guys of the introduction plot, as it's a little different from what will normally happen whenever someone joins or brings in a new character. Players will have ample time to plot out the generals and specifics of what they'd like their characters to do and who they'd like their characters to meet!

So, what exactly is this introduction plot? Simply, it's a way for everyone's characters --regardless of kingdom affiliation-- to have a chance to meet and make connections.

How's this possible? Well, we hate to break it to you, but magic isn't always sparkles and pumpkin juice. It's a finicky art, and in this case, the spell's words are muddled and scrambled by the wear and tear on the ancient, faded scrolls. The wizards in each kingdom --unbeknownst to one another or to themselves-- have successfully summoned your characters to the world of Kingdoms. Specifically what they don't realize is that everyone in the first wave of The Summoned has been deposited at the exact spot where the four states' boarders meet.

The Summoned will have a bit of time to kill until the wizards can figure out why the characters weren't brought directly to their own kingdoms. This will give The Summoned time to meet, converse, mingle, try to find answers, perhaps even attempt to return to their own realities or contact their people back home (both of which are, sadly, impossible). At the exact moment an hour has passed, the wizards will find what they misread/misinterpreted and right the part of the spell they cast wrong; at that moment, all of The Summoned will vanish in a flash of light and reawaken in the town squares of their respective kingdoms.

After their official introduction and induction to their new homes (which will differ from kingdom to kingdom), The Summoned belonging to the same kingdom will have a second chance to meet, converse, and bond (or, you know... start scheming a break out).

Specifics and other details will provided in the actual intro event post.

Now that you know what you're in for, why don't you say hello? And remember, don't be shy! There are sure to be some names and characters you don't recognize, but don't be afraid to say hello and ask about characters you're canon blind to. You never know; they might end up being some of your favorite cross-canon CR!

To get things started, here's a handy dandy text box with suggested topics to cover in your intros/plottings! Feel free to copy and paste!

If you have any questions, concerns, or need clarification, please comment to the mod thread. We'll provide answers as promptly as possible.
